Dancing with the Shasta Stars boosts awareness and support for One Safe Place


SHASTA COUNTY, Calif. — The star-studded annual event, Dancing with the Shasta Stars, returns to Redding Saturday, Oct. 18 at the Cascade theatre.

The evening of glitz and glamour brings together local leaders and professional dancers for some friendly competition. The event raises awareness and funds for local community services.

The audience can vote with their dollars for their favorite dance team. This year the cast includes; Jason and Mindy Odell of Odell Craft Barbecue spotlighting community prevention and education, Jennifer Coy and Luke Swanson highlighting legal services at One Safe Place, Dr. Jesse Curran and Kristen Lawrence for the 24/7 Crisis hotline & Hospital Response program, Eva Jimenez with dance partner Hagen Lebak to raise funding for transitional housing, Dr. Steve Loncosky with Rachelle Brazil dancing for the One Safe Place emergency shelter and Christina Prosperi dancing with Nick Meyer in support of the dedicated client intake and advocacy team at One Safe Place.

Elizabeth Schroeder returned to Daybreak with dancers Coy and Swanson on Wednesday. Coy said, " It's [legal services] often the first thing they need, is protection. And knowing that you can go to One Safe Place, they'll walk that journey with you, help you figure out the first steps is so crucial to people.."
