Model Family Justice Center Sustained Funding Policy
Created by Alliance for HOPE International, this document sets forth a shared, sustained funding policy for Family Justice Centers. The policy states that Family Justice Centers and Community Partners should cooperate and not compete for public or private funding. The policy emphasizes the need to be transparent; regular communication, discussion, and evaluation of all prior and future grant applications are encouraged.
Model Family Justice Center Shared, Sustained Funding Policy
It is the policy of the Family Justice Center to cooperate and not compete with partner agencies of the Center whenever public or private sector grant opportunities arise. The Family Justice Center is a collaborative made up of governmental and non-governmental agencies which are committed to the sustainability principle that working together will “increase the pie” and produce additional resources for all partner agencies. The Family Justice Center will support grant applications submitted to potential funding sources by all partner agencies unless the application comprises the policies, procedures, or guiding principles of the Center. As much as possible, the Center will pursue grants in a collaborative manner with partner agencies and seek to increase funding for both the Center and partner agencies.
In the circumstance in which two partner agencies are applying for the same grant, the Family Justice Center will provide support for both applications unless such mutual support is deemed to negatively impact the Center and its mission, vision, and values. In the event an FJC partner is applying for a grant and a non-FJC community-based agency is applying for the same grant, the Family Justice Center will support the FJC partner agency.
In all funding matters, the Family Justice Center will notify partners of grants being applied for, seek to communicate openly about potential grant opportunities, and possible conflicts.
On a quarterly basis, the Family Justice Center will discuss all pending grant applications and grant opportunities with all partner agencies and engage in open, transparent discussions to coordinate applications and mutual support.
On an annual basis, the Center will review all grant opportunities pursued over the past year with partner agencies and review the outcomes to determine if any competition resulted, if any funds were obtained through collaboration, and address any potential conflicts with a plan of action designed to reduce such conflicts in the future.
